Mission Accomplished! The manuscript for the book is completed

Mission Accomplished Stamp

I have finally accomplished my goal of writing 30,000 words in my book. It has been a long and tiring journey of constant pressure, lack of sleep, and fatigue. To hold myself accountable, I was updating my friends and clients on my progress every day: Report the number of words written  (I even had a graph chart to show it!).

Last few nights of book writing

The last few nights of my book writing journey were exceptionally difficult because I had four straight days of training and it took a lot of energy out of me.

Working through the night was not easy. I realised that the more I typed, the slower I got, especially when I got past midnight. I made more and more mistakes and realised that I was fighting off fatigue. Sentences also became more difficult to construct as I wasn’t thinking clearly. Had to type, retype and edit. When I read through what I wrote, I was not happy with how it was phrased and rewrote that part again.

Once I ended, I checked the number of words: 30,524 words. I hit my target of 30,000 words! Woo Hoo!

Accountability is everything

This entire vision of completing the manuscript in 60 days is really amazing! I realised that when you have a dream, it is important to plan clearly for it and announce it to people to ensure that you are accountable for it. Your desire, coupled with intense accountability, will help you accomplish what you have set. I can finish this book because of all my friends and clients who are also rooting for my success because they know about my intention. The interesting thing was that everywhere I went, I had friends, clients, and even friends from overseas asking me, “How is your book progress?”. This really helped me to focus on what I needed to do to make it a success.

Be intentional and accountable and you will surely succeed.

What’s next?

Completing the manuscript is one thing but there are hundreds of other things that will take place once the manuscript is completed. The immediate step is to find a good editor to work on the manuscript, talk to a designer on the book cover, get testimonials, rework the manuscript after editing (this will process will take a few weeks), get an ISBN and barcode, plan a book launch, printing, and many more moving components. This itself is a massive journey and I will take this a step at a time. I look forward to it being finished by the First Quarter of 2017. The aim is to launch the book by April 2017.
